As Utility Technology Engineer you will be part of the EMEA Engineering and Build Project Organization which’s role is to identify, develop, promote and implement Capital Project Management Best Practices. The organization serves to maximize return on investment and consistently deliver on promises. As part of this organization, your role is to provide regional governance for the design standards, process capabilities, hazard analysis, performance monitoring, technical training, and incremental or significant improvements for the Cargill Utility Technologies of Steam Production and Cogeneration. You will directly report to the EMEA Utility Technology Leader.

Major Tasks

Utilities Techno logy Design and Capability

  • You are responsible for defining the conceptual and basic design requirements for the utility technology that has the capability to deliver the product(s) and/or service(s) meeting the market requirements and internal/external risk tolerances and standards while achieving the best total cost to operate.

  • You partner with Functional Leadership (Strategic Sourcing, Reliability, Safety, Environmental, Food Safety, Engineering and R&D) to define the design requirements for utility technology.

  • You translate the requirements for technology design & capability into a technology transfer package.

  • You provide Subject Matter Expert support to utility projects and upon request to the businesses

  • You ensure the deployment of the utility technology design requirements into Build projects.

  • You are responsible for the technology risk management for the utility technology so that the process design has compliance with applicable regulatory authorities internally (i.e. food safety, quality, regulatory compliance, environmental, health and safety) as well as external governmental entities (i.e. FDA, OSHA, etc.).

  • You are responsible for translating technical process expertise to advise/consult and provide direction to the adoption/implementation of policies, procedures and standards as well as planning and execution of highly complex utility technology assignments.

Utility Technology Performance

  • You define and monitor utility technology performance metrics and goals as well as overall business impact.

  • In conjunction with Manufacturing Excellence SMEs, you assist with the application of continuous improvement leading practice/tools to improve the utility process cost and/or capabilities.

  • You establish lessons learned from Build Projects to continuously improve utility technology design requirements.

  • You promote strong business/customer partnership to ultimately influence strategic/systemic changes, bridge technology gaps and set organizational goals as well as governance around process improvement and leading practices.

  • You work closely with the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement Supplier for both internal and external suppliers.

  • You establish, advise and oversee auditing and compliance governance for the utility technology. Through established network, you enforce corporate benchmarking metrics and performance measurements to advise/consult on process improvement solutions that contribute to efficiency improvements and deliver cost savings.

  • You externally benchmark manufacturing technology capabilities and performance, and assist business units assessing competitors’ capabilities and total cost of ownership.

Utility Technology Education

  • You are responsible for developing the technical educational content for operators and line management of the utility technology.

  • You determine the evaluation criteria of the technical competency and minimum standards that operators, line management, and a build team must achieve before building or operating the process independently within the utility technology.

Utility Technology Innovation-road mapping

  • You keep abreast of emerging utility technology development/improvements within the industry and incorporate into the design requirements so that the process design maintains its capability to deliver the product(s) and/or service(s) meeting the market requirements and internal/external risk tolerances and standards while achieving the best total cost to operate.

  • You participate in industry organizations as the Utility Technology SME representing Cargill to influence and keep abreast of regulations and/or Good Engineering Practice applicable to the Utility technology.

Qualifications

  • You have a strong fundamental understanding of industry leading practices in managing the different risks of the technology

  • You are flexible with the working hours

  • You are willing to cope with extensive travel across the project locations (up to 40% of the time)

  • You are able to communicate effectively in a cross-cultural environment

  • You have deep expertise and knowledge of Steam Production and Cogeneration technologies and are able to convert the knowledge this into designs for the manufacturing plants and buildings

  • You have basic knowledge of automation and process control

  • You have proven ability to influence results with peers, customers (internal and external) and vendors

  • You have proven ability to partner effectively with all levels of the organization

  • You have proven ability to influence results with technical managers, technical leaders and peers

  • You have demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • You are fluent in English

  • You have proven experience in working in international environments with different cultures
