Vectrus Shore Lead Engineer - Fleet NOC Lead (FSET) in Naples, Italy

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is required for supporting the various systemslocated at the Fleet Network Operations Center (NOC) at Naval Computer andTelecommunications Station, Naples IT.Support includes administration and maintenance of systems, use and developmentof standard operating procedures, lead and coordination of troubleshootingefforts to resolve issues on supported units across multiple circuits andsystems and facilities.Candidate willserve as technical advisor to NCTS Naples, C6F, and NCTAMSLANT personnelrelated to Fleet networking operations in the C6F AOR.

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES: Please list by order of priority and,if possible, provide the percentage of time spent on the activity all shouldequal 100%.

Candidate will be responsible for supporting the FleetNetwork Operations Center (NOC).Conducts on site troubleshooting and maintenance assistance for problemsthat go across multiple systems, provides training on new systems, and worksprocesses that cross multiple systems.

Coordinate repair of installed C4I systems and otheradvisory and systems engineering services;

Support shore based facilities to ensure those facilitiesare fully operational to meet the requirements of fleet units/ships assignedpermanently or temporarily to the C6F AOR.Support fleet units/ships as required to ensure connectivity to Navalnetworks.

Provide on-site engineering and technical support for theintegration of IT hardware and software upgrades

Provide support for maintenance of the system architectureconfiguration and systematic baseline to meet the site program objectives;on-site support shall provide activity based technical and engineering supportfor process configuration;

Provide recommendations for alternative courses of action tomore effectively accomplish the integration of upgrades and modifications;

Provide recommendations for improvement or alternativenetworking strategies;

Assist in conducting preliminary network testing afterintegration and configuration of site upgrades and modifications;

Support Information Assurance, to include adherence to IApolicies, operations of IA related systems (HBSS, IDS, Antivirus, firewalls,load balancers).

Provide support for restoral procedures; rapid response foremergent issues, and network documentation.

Interacting with multiple customer organizations will berequired.

Less than 5% travel may be required.

Perform other duties as assigned

Navy C2 Systems and government networks.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Candidate will work on-site at NCTS Naples at NSA Capodichino,Italy.In order to provide requiredservice for operations, work at times other than normal work week hours may berequired.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

No special requirements.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certifications: One year related experience may besubstituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

BS in Information Technology (or equivalent technicaldegree) or 12 years technical experience in related discipline required.Certification as IAT2 (per DoD Inst 8750.1and Navy guidance) with IA and CE (Unix/Linux or CISCO) certification required.5 years’ experience in NetworkApplications.Certification in multipleoperating systems highly desired.

Experience:

Experience with Unix/Linux systems and Cisco networks required.Experience with multiple variants of ADNS highlydesired.Experience with Windows Serverand email highly desired. Total 8 years in C4I networking required, with recentexperience with DoD Information Assurance/CND systems and policies such as HBSSrequired.Experience implementing HBSSon C2 related systems highly desired. Ability to work with a team to resolvecomplex problems across multiple systems required.Experience in information assuranceoperations also required, including use of Retina scanning tools and use ofSTIGs.Excellent written and verbalcommunications skills required.

Skills:

Knowledge of networking, fleet communications systems andarchitectures required.Must be able tocommunicate well both orally and in writing.Must be able to communicate well with seniorNavy officials and technical personnel.Must be able to provide training to Navy personnel.

SUPERVISORY/BUDGET RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provides technical direction to other civilian and militaryinformation technology personnel.
