Role Summary:

We offer you the opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-paced Sourcing team as Indirect Buyer, responsible for optimizing the direct purchase of Plant & Equipment Facility & Environmental Health and Safety supplies (e.g. facility management; forklift; consultant). You will be responsible for managing indirect commodities across Avio Aero’s operations exploring purchase opportunities in the regional and worldwide markets.

Essential Responsibilities:

Working closely within the AvioAero’s Supply Chain teams and colleagues from other departments you will:

  • Implement Sourcing’s Strategy minimizing costs on assigned commodities using negotiations, re-design and operations’ cost-per-hour rate reduction initiatives

  • Work with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Global Supply Chain, Quality, Legal and Compliance) to develop cost, product and supply chain performance to the highest standards.

  • Drive daily supplier selection and bidding (RFQ), price negotiation process, issue of Purchase Orders and act as the Sourcing owner in regards of pricing, fulfillment and compliance

  • Achieve lowest possible costs, balanced against optimum quality and schedule needs

  • Evaluate current and anticipated requirements, determine potential sources, obtain bids, and plan programs to meet business needs

  • Provide coordination and leadership in procurement activities for assigned commodities

  • Responsible for assigned commodities to meet the requirements of the business

  • Coordinate training of suppliers to accomplish business initiatives

  • Contribute to Company’s objectives through effective negotiation of requirements by aggregation of demand and supplier consolidation within AvioAero’s premises.

  • Develop and analyze sourcing data in order to support development of an appropriate negotiating strategy that will maximize the savings opportunities

  • Lead contract development and prepare contracts for execution with legal and other approving departments to ensure adequate protections are included

  • Assure that material/services will be delivered on schedule, at negotiated price, terms and conditions and meet required quality standards

  • Initiate necessary action to assure best value is received, customer delivery requirements are met, and address any manufacturing problem at supplier’s facility

  • Take ownership for corrective action and resolution for services quality issues with suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Develop and lead simplification projects

  • Review indirect requisitions (RdA) for accuracy, supporting documents and compliance to procedure

  • Adhere to company and department’s policies and procedures maintaining the highest level of integrity and ethics in all dealings with supply base and internal customers


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering or alternatively High School Diploma with strong experience in Sourcing

  • Ability to build strong business relationships/partnerships

  • Ability to cope with multiple complex situations daily

  • Influencing and negotiation skills

  • Positive working attitude and proven understanding of how to be an effective service provider within an organization

  • Display proactive approach, customer orientation, initiative, autonomy

  • Cross functional experience working with production, engineering, quality & administrative departments

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Proficient in MS Office (e.g. Powerpoint, Excel, Outlook, Word)

  • Fluent in both Italian and English

  • EU Work Permit

  • Knowledge of marketplace (Plant & Equipment Facility & EHS supplies), current market conditions, pricing and sources of supply

  • Ability to handle issues around cost increases and how to mitigate them

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Professional working knowledge of SAP MRP software system
